Editorial Process
Editorial Process
Philosophy of Medicine operates a double-masked review process for all original research submissions (reviewers do not know the identity of authors, and authors do not know the identity of reviewers). All original research submissions are reviewed by at least one journal editor. All original research submissions published in the journal are peer-reviewed and approved by the Editor in Chief. Editors strive to return an initial decision to authors within 12 weeks of submission, although the time taken is highly variable, depending for instance on the availability of reviewers.
All other content published in the journal is reviewed internally by journal editors.
The journal will not consider resubmissions of manuscripts previously rejected by the journal. Editorial decisions are typically final, and appeals for reconsideration will only be heard in rare cases in which an error in procedure is suspected (e.g. due to a glitch in the submission system).
